Afrika Korps Rifle Platoon

My Flames of War German Afrika Korps rifle platoon is finished. Below are some fantastic photos taken by a professional. Just click to blow them up. I'll be painting the 88 guns next and I'll post a step by step.

Flames of War Afrika Korps

Got back into some serious painting and hobbying. I am working on my Flames of War stockpile. At the moment its Germans. Here is some in progress shots, they still need skin and some uniform highlights but the base color and washes are done.

Hopefully you get the idea here. I also ordered some Citadel Contrast paints since I'm cuious to see how they work. I also ordered a bunch of terrain pieces from Amera Plastic Mouldings to finish out my desert gaming board. I wanted to order some more ships from C in C like the others I did but come to find out they have been bought out and the World War I range is out of stock. Hopefully they return soon! I also got the rulebook for Sharp Practice and the narrative add-on Dawns and Departures. Would be fun to paint up a fictional German force just like Too Fat Lardies' writter Rich has done with Strudelheim.

I will do a step by step post with all the colors and everything when I get onto painting the guns for the rest of my Afrika Korp.

I got the Bolt Action starter set, Band of Brothers. Its pretty cool. I decided to build a German force and then maybe a Japanese force. I'll not bother with an unboxing of the starter set as many exist already. I just ordered a bunch of German units and maybe I'll unbox those when they arrive. I did just get some new stuff through and I'll slap some pictures of those up now. Then tomorrow I'll post the unboxing of the Japanese infantry box.

First up is the err.. Fighting First Paint set. This had some colors in it I was after. I also got the Patton's Fighting First FOW set not long ago.

Just some general hobby things.

Motor platoon to help fill out the various FOW desert war boxes.

This is from a new pirate miniatures game called Blood and Plunder. Pirates! I love pirates and wanted to see what the minis where like before I bought a big set of them. I think its 28mm or maybe 30. Great detail for a metal mini and only cost about 3 bucks. I might start painting him right away. He's also based on a cool wood plank deck.

The second part of the Open Fire box set. The Germans. Followed the painting guide from Battlefront for these minis. They came out ok, maybe a little dark.

 Assembled German Army.

 Pak 40s.

 Command Teams

Infantry Teams.

 Stug III Assault Guns.

Flames of War models are fun to paint and the game is easy to learn and you can play with relatively few models for a quick battle.

Most of my Flames of War minis are from the Open Fire box set, I love box sets. FoW is 15mm.  I'll start with my Allied forces. American Airborne with British tank support. Also have some Americans not from the box set including recon jeeps, extra bazookas and command teams. German forces tomorrow!

All the Americans from the Open Fire Box.

 Rifle teams.

 Command and Bazooka teams.

Weapons teams.

British armor including two Fireflys.

Extra Command and Bazooka teams.

Extra Recon Jeeps.

Still work to be done learning to take good pictures, Most of these are done with my phone camera. Also the Jeeps have magnets on the bottom so you can stick them to a metal sheet for transport. Although I now have Battle Foam for storage.
