BRDM 3 Complete

After a few long evenings and some heavy weathering this is the result! She has a Soviet Navy livery and has seen a lot of use, mostly in training excercises. 

You learn a lot researching for model projects. The Soviets used a small number of there vehicle stockpile for training exclusively. The idea being that brand new vehicles would be delivered to units should a war break out. With that in my mind I wanted to really beat in this amphibious tank hunter. Heavy chipping and lots of mud build up seemed in order. 

Brdm Update

Finally got the assembly finished and gaps filled. After a quick primer I gave it a coat of Chipping Brown. I want to get some chipping techniques on this old army vehicle. The tires had a light airbrushing of migs rubber and tires color.

This kit is one of the oldest kits that I have ever built. It has some extremely difficult assembly sections. Particularly the bow trim plate. I broke most of the arms after it was assembled just by handling it. I am going to attempt to replace them with some brass wire. I have some pictures of both hull sections below and will update with new photos right before paint.

Models

I'm patiently waiting the arrival of paints to complete the car kits I've been working on. In the meantime I'm going to be building this older dragon kit. According to Scalemates it's from the early 90's. I guess that classifies it as a vintage kit.

I bought this on ebay brand new, sealed about a month ago. It's in great shape. I have included pics of all the components except a tiny piece of clear plastic intended for use in the windshields.

Sorry the decals are a bit dark. I can take some better ones if people are interested. And finally the instructions are just a fold out sheet. And lastly the included paint schemes.

Mostly likely I will be doing this up as a USSR vehicle to go along with some tanks I also have in my stash.  Below you can see the sprues getting a nice clean. It's important for these older kits since they are more likely to have mold release agents still sitting on them.
